Experience the timeless fun of the classic UNO card game online against computer opponents! Your objective is simple: be the first player to empty your hand of all cards. You can play against two, three, or four virtual rivals. On your turn, try to match the top card on the discard pile by either color, number, or symbol. If you don't have a playable card, you must draw one from the draw pile. If the drawn card is playable, you can play it immediately; otherwise, your turn ends. Remember to press the "UNO" button when you have only one card remaining, or face a two-card penalty. Strategize with special action cards to change the game's flow and outsmart your opponents!
UNO Game Rules
- Deal the cards: Each player starts with seven cards.
- Form the Draw Pile: The remaining cards are placed face down in the center to form the Draw Pile.
- Start the Discard Pile: The top card of the Draw Pile is flipped face up next to it to begin the Discard Pile.
- If the first card is an Action card (Skip, Reverse, Draw Two) or a Wild card, its action applies immediately (see "Action Cards" below for initial discard effects). The next player then takes their turn.
- If the first card is a Wild Draw Four, it is shuffled back into the Draw Pile, and a new top card is flipped.
Gameplay:
- First Turn: The player to the left of the dealer goes first.
- Playing a Card: On your turn, you must play one card from your hand onto the Discard Pile that matches the top card by:
- Color
- Number
- Symbol (Action cards)
- You can also play a Wild card or a Wild Draw Four card on any turn.
- Drawing a Card: If you don't have a card that matches, you must draw one card from the Draw Pile. If you draw a playable card, you can play it immediately. If not, your turn ends.
- Wild Cards:
- When you play a Wild card, you get to choose the color that the next player must match. You can even choose the color that was just played.
- When you play a Wild Draw Four card, you get to choose the color that the next player must match, and the next player must draw four cards and lose their turn.
- Restriction on Wild Draw Four: You can only play a Wild Draw Four if you have no cards in your hand that match the current color on the Discard Pile. You can play it if you have matching numbers or action symbols of a different color.
- Challenging a Wild Draw Four: The next player can challenge a Wild Draw Four if they suspect it was played illegally. The player who played it must show their hand to the challenger.
- If the challenge is correct (the player did have a matching color card), the challenged player must draw the four cards.
- If the challenge is incorrect (the player had no matching color card), the challenger must draw six cards.
- Action Cards:
- Skip: The next player in turn order is skipped and loses their turn.
- Reverse: The direction of play is reversed (clockwise becomes counter-clockwise, or vice versa). In a two-player game, a Reverse card acts like a Skip card.
- Draw Two (+2): The next player must draw two cards from the Draw Pile and lose their turn.
- Going Out: When you play your second-to-last card, you must say "UNO" to warn the other players that you have only one card left. If you fail to say "UNO" and another player catches you before the next player starts their turn, you must draw two penalty cards.
- Winning a Round: The first player to play all the cards in their hand wins the round.
- Scoring: Once a player goes out, the round ends, and points are scored based on the cards left in the other players' hands:
- Number cards (0-9): Face value
- Skip, Reverse, Draw Two: 20 points each
- Wild, Wild Draw Four: 50 points each
- Winning the Game: The game continues for multiple rounds until one player reaches a total of 500 points. That player is the winner.
House Rules: Many variations of UNO rules exist. Players should agree on any house rules before starting the game. Some common house rules include stacking Draw Two or Wild Draw Four cards.
